A lot has happened around here since the Golden Eagles arrived in September. Portlanders are buzzing about what’s happening with one of the last remaining, iconic structures in town. The Birds, who were established in the early 1900’s, have been on the cutting edge of the city’s development. They live up to their legend, moving their massive roost for a bird sanctuary.

From what you see and hear in the background of this video, the Birds have a pretty busy fall, a bit more than usual for their first week in Portland. They started off wi??????? ??th two new buildings, a roost for their flock and the new outdoor patio with their beloved golden crescent in their honor.

“They’ve really made a huge impact on Portland, and a lot of us are quite proud of them,” said resident Mark O’Mara.

The Birds were founded in 1907 by Robert Haggart, known as “The Golden Eagle” for his many feathered birds in the city. But things changed at the time. The Eagles and many of their neighbors h??? ???ad been sold to owners in the early 1900’s for scrap metal. The roost and the outdoor patio that is being built for them will be open. “We’ll take all the space that is going to be needed, we’ll put up a beautiful structure, and our new city will have the best urban landscape anywhere on the face of the earth,” Ewing said.

The Ducks are keep????? ??????ing their distance while also trying to create a new future for the city. Ewing says they have many plans to make Portland livable for people living here: a new playground for the Children’s Museum, more grocery stores and a pedestrian bridge over the Willamette River that connects to the new neighborhood at the corner of Columbia and South Jackson.
